Dior Diorshow Mono Eyeshadow #351 Feather
After loving my other Dior Backstage Eyeshadows, I decided to give this limited edition beauty a go. I have it for quite a while and still can’t decide whether I love it (aka, will be using all year round … ). The colour is just beautiful but most of the time I lack ideas what other colours I should pair it with.
Dior Diorshow Mono Eyeshadow #351 Feather is a mermaid green with multi coloured shimmer. Just as the other Backstage Eyeshadows, it can be used wet or dry (both ways work fine). I talked about the texture, packaging (more pictures), pros and cons in my Diorshow Mono Tweed post already.
There are some sheer shades in this range, Feather is medium pigmented I would say. For my heavy swatch I used three layers. The formulation seems a bit drier compared to all my other Dior Mono Eyeshadows. It still feels nice in touch (not dry or hard) but not as silky as let’s say #566 Panama or #653 Mordoré.
Feather is quite difficult to photograph, it is a wee bit darker in real life (especially in the pan, picture above). The shimmers are more visible as well and I highly recommend using a base (my favourite one is from NARS). The fine shimmer particles are prone to move a bit, I haven’t noticed any fallout (texture wise) though and it blends nicely as well (most of the time I use the Dior sponge tip applicator to apply the shade on my lid and blend it out with my Hakuhodo brush).
All my swatch pictures were taken in different lighting. The last picture has a filter and was taken indoors (Feather photographs either too blue toned or too light).
Products used: Feather (all over lid, applied wet and blended out upwards, lower lash line), KATE Gel Liner Black, Maybelline The Rocket Mascara Waterproof, Kanebo Eyebrow Pencil EB01. On my face I just have my beloved Rouge Bunny Rouge Sea of Clouds highlighter (all over), Givenchy Mister Light (under eye area) and Guerlain Terracotta 4 Seasons Bronzer #3 Brunettes.
Overall, I think Dior Diorshow Mono Eyeshadow Feather is a great choice for summer but I am still undecided whether I will wear it a lot actually. I like the effect it gives (once applied wet) and with just a simple black liner plus mascara combo it adds a nice touch to my outfit. Since my other Diorshow Mono Eyeshadows have a much nicer texture I have to play with Feather a bit more and see if this colour will stay in my collection (maybe it’s time for some more EOTD’s? … ). A huge negative aspect (for me) is the quite bulky packaging and I am still hoping for refills!
