Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Volupté #22 Prune Exquise
Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Volupté #22 Prune Exquise is a deep plummy shade. The formulation is very creamy and slippery. I have to blot it down and layer to the opacity I like, otherwise I have to worry, that I will end up with some vampy strokes/smearing while eating or drinking. I really like wearing such shades in general though. The staying power is about one to two hours on me, it leaves a rather visible stain. It smells like melon, I can see how this can bother some people, it also takes some time till the scent has faded. When my lips are in good condition, I don’t experience any major drying but Rouge Voluptes actually can be drying if you already have dry lips. On my skintone it pulls more plummy than expected.
On my arm swatch I applied two layers, on my lip swatch three (each blotted down, the top layer shows how glossy it looks – not blotted). It was possible to apply this colour very even straight from the bullet. I think the texture has to suit your lip condition, otherwise it won’t look very pretty (but that is the case with every formulation, right?). Overall, this shade is a winner, the formulation is rather so-so and not my favourite one.
ah, gorgeousness overload!!
i love both the lipstick and the polish colors on you.
i was eyeing this color, actually..but i thought i should get a shade like lingerie pink first then spend on some vamp.
but it’s done. i know i will get both after seeing this post! ;p
This colour didn’t stand out to me in first place as well but once applied, it looks so good! I think it will look really nice on your skintone 🙂
Goodness this is gorgeous! This shade is the epitome of vampy and dramatic! Looks stunning on you and so nice for fall!! 🙂
It is! It actually looks lighter in the pan (a little bit), the transformation once applied is just pure gorgeousness. It is a nice shade for the fall/winter time as well.
There it is! Beautiful! I absolutely love the RV’s, they look beautiful blotted down as well. I’m just really blown away by the shades, this is so gorgeous and Provocation is the perfect accompaniment! xx
I wasn’t a huge fan of the RVs back in the days, my lips were just too dry but now … I have to get more! They have some very nice reds and plums in their line.
EEps! I love this one! Now why did YSL pull out here again? Why?! 😦
Whaa? That would be so sad if that happened here (but I don’t think it will :P). YSL is one of those HE brands, that also is featuring vibrant colours, that’s what I really like about YSL.
I still haven’t tried anything from YSL yet. This shade does look quite vampy! I have to check it out when I’m in Singapore 🙂
Oh, you have to Lily 😀 It is a very wearable vamp, sheered out it is a subtle vamp 😉 great for adding some colour to your lips.
Stunning! I love that lip, does it have a lot of slip or does it stay put?
It has a lot of slip actually. I have to blot and then layer to make it stay on for long. It leaves an even stain on me (once worn off). The colour is just stunning, can’t believe I haven’t tried it sooner.
This is so spectacularly vampy – it’s beautiful on you! I also find these YSL lipsticks to be too creamy and prone to transfer, but they so make some beautiful shades.
sadly yes. I am so glad my lips are in good condition, I now can wear them. I have to ‘work’ with them though: blot, reapply, blot, etc. It doesn’t bother me that much, the shades they have are amazing. I like their Rouge Pure Coutures a bit more though, so velevty and long lasting. I love YSL for those bold colours (like RPC #7 – nom nom).
Oh wow, this is SO vampy! YSL is a brand that I know little about. Maybe it’s time to find out what they have!
I was a huge YSL fan when I started out with makeup, then I discovered Guerlain 😉 I still like YSL, they have some very good quality products in their line. I am so impressed with Dior lately though. You should definetly check out YSL Rouge Pure Couture Lipsticks as well.
Whoa it matches Chanel Malice very well!! 🙂
Malice is more red, Prune Exquise more wine plummy but I agree, Malice would be a very nice match indeed 🙂 Love this plummy shade!
brilliant post Claire! 22 Prune Exquise or Exquisite Plum, is exactly that! I need to dig my out from my lipstick stash 🙂
Can’t believe I wasn’t interested in this shade, I overlooked it all the time, haha. I think YSL has amazing plums in their collection.
Looks like a brilliant vampy color!!
