Guerlain Rose aux Joues Blush Duo 04 Pink Punk
Guerlain released six new blushes for fall. The colour that stands out to me the most is Pink Punk. I am not a fan of their old blushes, they are not as nice as the new ones for sure.
The texture is not the smoothest and it feels very solid in touch, however, it is more about how they look once applied – they melt into your skin, there is not build up nor a powdery finish, no matter how much you layer. I would say they are all medium pigmented. ItΒ lasts all day on me, without moving, fading, this blush looks fresh all day long.
It comes with a brush, not the best quality and it feels a bit rough. the colours are a bright pink with a hint of peach and deep mauve rose with subtle shimmer. I used three layers for my swatches.
I have to say, I adore these colours, they also look incredible mixed together. I am very satisfied with this blush, again, to me, it is not about the texture here but how they transform once applied. They all have a violet smell, it is pretty intense, I like it and it doesn’t bother me. I think Red Hot is a nice colour as well, I may get it but am still undecided. Have you tried the new Guerlain blushes? What are your thoughts?
oh these are so pretty!
i agree with you. you never know for sure until you try it on and wait. some look gorgeous in the pans but don’t translate very well on the cheeks. and it’s quite difficult to find something stays true and long for sure. most of them turn into reddish blah or nothing(!) at the end of the day..
i just ordered the liu palette and i am very excited. i want these blushes, too. (*sigh*)
Hi Lena π Exactly, I love how Sleek blushers look in the pan but they look extremely powdery on me, eventhough I don’t need much product (they are pigmented and I am quite pale). What I really like about those new Guerlain blushers, no matter how much I apply to get the pigment I want, they look like skin/flush on me and never powdery. The Liu palette looks devine (Guerlain collections are by far my favourites). I wish they would improve their brushes or just skip them though.
I haven’t tried them yet but oh my, they look gorgeous!
Hi Trona. They are and as I mentioned in the post, to me those are not about the buttery texture (those aren’t, rather solid in touch) but how they transform once applied/look on my skin, all day long.
Great swatches! I was really excited at first when these came out, but after swatching and playing with them, I was honestly a tiny bit underwhelmed. For some reason none of the colors really excite me. They’re pretty ,but nothing special in my opinion. Maybe I need to actually try the colors on my face before I say that though…
Hi Becca. To be honest, when I first swatched them, I wasn’t impressed that much, however, Pink Punk was so pretty, I thought Guerlain rarely disappoints me, so I have to try it on first. You pay for the packaging for sure what I don’t mind, because I also pay attention to the packaging (not always but often). I heard very mixed reviews, mine has good pigment (I saw swatches where there was almost non pigmentation). I don’t know if it has to do with how a store is storing them (I had that problem once before with my Guerlain Les Gris quad).
I’ve been checking out Red Hot for a while and I may jump….but would love to see your swatches/review before I do! π
Red Hot was the only other blush that stood out to me, the colour is not the most unique one but I like the blush combo. I am very very tempted by this one as well π
I have one! It might be PInk Punk but I can’t remember π I must say I’m not over the moon about them though. I can’t quite put my finger on why. Maybe its because the texture is hard, or because its not terribly unique. Will be thinking about it some more π
Hi Paris π I agree, I think most people don’t like them due to the texture but once applied I am more than impressed (on my skintone and skintype). I actually never had such a hard feeling blush with such good transformation once applied. I think Pink Punk is the most unique one on this collection though.
Hi Claire,
This gorgeous, I love the pairing of the hot pink with muted rose . Wow. Perhaps the mix does make it a daring but wearable combo!
Hi Dovey π The pairing is a combo I never would have thought using together. I should have swatched them layered *sigh*. I got lots of compliments wearing the hot pink side mixed with the muted rose on my cheeckbones.
I have this one in Peach Boy! In the beginning I wasn’t impressed because the texture is rather hard, and it seems difficult to blend. After playing with it for a while however, I’m pretty sure there’s just a harder layer on top! I still have to try it a few more times to see how it performs without that hard layer though. I’ll keep you posted!
Hi Sunny π I agree about the texture, had the same feeling at the beginning. I don’t find it difficult to blend but I don’t need a lot of product. I wonder if mine has a hard layer on top as well, will pay attention to that now. Please let me know, that’s very interesting. I saw so many mixed reviews, from blushers beeing pigmented to … never showed up. I wonder why that is so. I had that problem with my Guerlain Les Gris palette and I believe it was due to bad storing.
So true about swatching never telling the full story! Sadly though these don’t really transform on my face π¦ Perhaps because I need even stronger pigment to counteract the drier texture (like Sleek). Pink Punk is by far the prettiest shade, not surprised you picked it ;D
Hi Kate π How funny you mentioned Sleek, I had my problems with them. They looked extremely powdery on me. I wonder why they won’t transform on your skin, have you used a tester? Because when I swatched the testers, I was very meh about them (I believe too many dirty fingers have touched them, lol). I am very happy with Pink Punk π I also agree, a product should be worn and not swatched only, never tells the full story (well said).
You are making my desire for Guerlain overwhelming! This blush is so vivid! I would be quite shy in using it, but I am sure along with the mauve shade it would be a gorgeous pop. I have a similar shade in a Givenchy quad blush and I love it!
I love Guerlain (especially their LE). I used three layeres for my swatches, I think you would be pleased with this shade and don’t have to worry about beeing it too vibrant. I really should have swatched it mixed together. Those kinda shades make me drool, I love them!
Hi Claire,
I have this in Over Rose. I agree that this is not the smoothest blush ever. I hope it could be more buttery and buildable. But I am glad that this blush lasts all day without fading π
I agree on the buttery side. A wee bit more buttery would be nice, I find it buildable however. I am really surprised, it seems like a lot of people got different quality blushers, they seem to vary in pigmentation and over all, quality.
the swatches are pigmented and I love that deep rose color!
Hi, thank you for stopping by and commenting π beside the texture, I don’t see anything negative about this blush.
gorgeous temptation!
Just read through some of your posts and I can’t find a shoutout box.
Just wanna say I love what I am reading at your blog!
π
Hi zibbieko, thank you for stopping by, commenting and your kind words π Pink Punk is tempting for sure!
love love love π
Hi Mel, thank you for stopping by π I love Pink Punk as well β€
Oh my, the packaging is gorge! The color in the left is definitely too pink for me, but I’m in love with that color in the right.
Hi Isabelle, thank you for stopping by and commenting π It looks scary but this is a heavy swatch, it definetly looks less vibrant once sheered out. I hope you get the chance to swatch it and see how it will work for you skintone.
